This custom-designed stockyard cover, located at Neerim Junction, incorporates a number of unique structural features to enhance both livestock safety and operational efficiency.

The columns are manufactured from hot dip galvanised circular hollow section (CHS). This design choice eliminated the need for wall bracing that could otherwise interfere with stock movement within the yards, helping ensure a smoother flow and safer working conditions. The round profile of the columns also reduces the risk of bruising, as cattle brushing against the posts encounter no sharp edges.

The rafters are fabricated from hot dip galvanised universal beams (UB) allowing for a 21m clear span. This large open span provides unobstructed coverage across the yard, improving functionality while delivering robust structural performance and long-term durability in a demanding agricultural environment. The low profile, yet heavy-duty, shape of the UB rafter offers less roosting spots for birds and maximises height clearance.

Partially clad walls and gable infills provide essential weather protection without compromising accessibility. The design shields livestock and working areas from prevailing weather while keeping entry and exit points open and practical for day-to-day operations.

The result is a durable, stock-friendly structure that balances strength, protection and efficient livestock movement.
