Builds Skillion Calf Shed in Loch
Building size: 64.5m long (8 x 8m bays), 12m roof span (9m shed + 2.25 & 0.75m overhangs), 4.5m high at low side.
This completed calf rearing shed was designed with a strong focus on ventilation and calf health. A continuous ventilation gap beneath the
west-facing eave allows prevailing winds to move freely under the roof, creating consistent airflow while preventing draughts at calf level.
The open side of the shed faced north ensuring winter sunlight can penetrate to the back wall, naturally warming the space during
colder months. In summer, the front eave overhang provides full shade, maintaining a cooler and more comfortable environment.
The column base connections were specifically designed to integrate with on-site poured concrete panels. Additional mid-bay support posts
were incorporated to accommodate the concrete dado panels, ensuring structural integrity while maintaining a practical and durable internal finish.
