A dairy shed is a significant long-term investment, which is why our shed frames are manufactured from universal beam columns and rafters, with connection plates factory-welded for strength, and efficient installation. All primary steelwork is hot-dip galvanised to provide long-term corrosion resistance in demanding agricultural environments.
The versatility of the universal beam frame allows for a wide range of customisation options. Awnings, lean-tos, overhangs, and ventilation features can be incorporated into the design to suit your site, operational requirements, and future expansion plans.
For dairies located in coastal environments, we recommend ZAM® coated roof purlins and wall girts. The aluminium and magnesium-enriched coating forms a highly protective barrier over time, providing enhanced corrosion resistance in salt-prone regions.

Client Outcome
Mount Lyall Dairies is a family-run dairy farm operated by Chris, together with his son and son-in-law. As with many long-established dairies, the original facility was nearing the end of its practical life.
Working with Bairnsdale Engineering, Chris commissioned a purpose-built dairy shed, large enough to house a 100-stand rotary dairy – 1 in 4 currently in Australia. The design was a 38m clear span shed with 2m overhangs either side creating eave ventilation gaps.
The new structure now allows Chris to milk 600 cows an hour with improved efficiency and plenty of opportunity for sustainable herd growth.
