Hay and fodder storage sheds

Hay Sheds

The most common choice for our clients for their hay and fodder storage is a three-sided shed (three walls clad, one long side wall open) with the open side usually facing to the north or the east. Access into your hay shed is something that must be considered; we can supply a shed with large access openings so dodging columns is minimized; and as for dodging columns, our universal (I) beam and hot rolled hollow section columns (galvanized for corrosion resistance) are “nudge” resistant – contrasting with cold rolled purlin framed hay sheds.

Bairnsdale Engineering’s hay shed frames are manufactured from RHS or UB hot-rolled steel with heavy-duty connection plates factory-welded to rafters and columns for greater strength and ease of installation. We recommend hot-dipped galvanized coated columns for ultimate corrosion resistance.

Your hay and fodder are important parts of your asset base; you have most likely invested a lot of money and time into its procurement – protect it from deterioration in a well-designed hay storage shed and you will reap the benefits.

We only use our calving barn for 3 months of the year but I would never go back to the old way [calving in the paddock]. It’s just so much easier.
