30.6m x 24m span x 4.5m dairy shed
In the dairy heartland of Central Gippsland, Warren Farms at Winnindoo recently replaced their herringbone with a new 60-stand rotary dairy. Milking 950 cows twice a day, the Warrens needed a custom built solution that would help achieve the farm’s vision of future growth and improve efficiency.
As Rod puts it, “The new rotary has saved us five hours a day in the dairy – and, significantly improved team morale.”

The shed was installed in 2 stages, firstly the roof and later the walls and doors. This allowed the team fitting out the dairy platform, vat and yard could work unobstructed.
Universal Beam Frame: With Bairnsdale Engineering’s compact yet robust hot-dip galvanised universal beam columns and rafters, the internal fitout within the shed went smoothly, and the overall design was both practically and aesthetically a great result. The clean lines of the heavy-duty UB rafters reduce the risk of bird nesting or debris build-up; key to maintaining hygiene in a milking environment.
Large Clear Sliding Doors: 6.1m x 4.1m sliding doors were fabricated from 75×50 rectangular hollow section ensured an enduring design in the harsh dairy environment.
Gable Infill: A gable infills and part clad walls installed as stage 2 provided weather protection without impeding on the workflow or cattle movement ensuring an efficient workflow that can be completed by one operator.
Heavy-duty Skylights: 4x 3050 GSM full-length Fibreglass skylights offer ample light to the rotary platform without creating harsh shadows over the cows.
For large-scale rotary dairies, success depends on more than just technology, it depends on the shed that brings it all together. Bairnsdale Engineering delivers sheds that don’t just protect the investment, they make it work.
From design to installation, the team’s understanding of the dairy landscape ensures every structure is built for real-world performance and long-term use. The Warren Farms’ shed shows just how straight-forward a build can be.
